Betty Jean (Palmer) Bitz

Betty Jean Bitz, 90, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in Greene Health & Rehab, Hempfield Township.  She was born September 6, 1933, a daughter of the late George D. and Anna (Blank) Palmer.  Prior to retirement she worked in the cafeteria at the University of Pittsburgh, Greensburg campus.  Betty loved bingo, telling stories and especially her grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Bitz, Sr., a daughter, Cheryl A. Freeman, a son, Charles P. Bitz, Jr., 2 sisters, Sarah Grace Poole and Cora Mae O’Bryan and her brother, Kenneth Ray Palmer.  She is survived by a son, Kevin L. Bitz and wife Brenda of Latrobe, a daughter, Kristy R. Cavallo and husband Richard of Mt. Pleasant, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday with Chaplain Terrance A. King officiating.  Private interment in St. Luke’s Reformed Cemetery, Unity Township.
